General Surgeons who place catheters using laparoscopic techniques are invited to register to attend

ISPD European PD University for Surgeons

Program Description

ISPD European PD (Peritoneal Dialysis) University for Surgeons is a two-fold approach to training general, transplant, and vascular surgeons to place catheters for peritoneal dialysis using laparoscopic techniques. The course consists of didactic lectures followed by comprehensive hands-on workshops. The hands on workshop sessions are designed to take the surgeon through the entire process of catheter placement; including pre-operative catheter exit site selection, catheter implantation, and exteriorization and dressing. The course is limited in size to maximize the learning experience and time for collaboration with the faculty.

Target Audience

This course is designed for surgeons involved in peritoneal catheter insertions, ranging from trainees to senior surgeons. The course is specifically designed for developing laparoscopic PD catheter insertion skills, especially for those surgeons who wish to change their insertion technique from open to laparoscopic.

Although there are no prerequisites for this course, it is designed for surgeons who have (some) experience with PD catheter insertions, or are aspiring to do so.
